The statue is located on the site of Galicia's biggest weekly market where fruit, vegetables and all kinds of consumables are sold each Sunday. The woman is probably representation of one of the many market traders who grow and sell their own produce. She is clearly holding a volume measure, so she is probably selling grain or even "Pimientos de Padron" based on a fixed measure.
