The Albert Gaskill Farm home is a wood frame Greek Revival house built around 1830. For Mendon during the early 19th century the home is very large. It sits on a triangular lot and serves as a gateway to Mendon Center. The centered entranceway has fluted Dorice pilasters, solid, pannelled side lights and cornice headed entablature. The edges of the house are defined by wide Dorice corner boards.

Edward Gaskill immigrated from England to Salem, MA in 1637 and settled in what is known as Blackstone (Blackstone was once part of Mendon), MA today in 1736. The Gaskills moved from Salem to Mendon to practise their faith as Quakers. As early as 1729, the first Friends Meeting House was built in Mendon o George St. In 1758, 32 Mendon Quakers were exempted from a militiary duty including Aldrichs, Buffums, Farnums and Southwicks (Nahum Gaskill's wife's family). The last Quaker services were held in Mendon in 1841. 16 Providence Rd home was existing by 1831. The first owner was Nahum Gaskill and was a farmer. In additiona to his farming, he also was in the flour and grain business. He was the first person in Mendon to become exclusively engaged in that line of trade. He and his wife were the parents of 12 children, which explains the largeness of the home. Albert W Gaskill inherited the house and farm around 1860.
