This structure is a single-story, 5-bay dwelling with interior
end chimneys. It is situated on a hill so that part of it's brick
basement is at ground level and accessible from outside.

As with 662 Central Turnpike this structure was built as a wheelwright
shop and later altered into a dwelling. It's original occupants
were Reuben F. Chase (born 1787) and Origen Harback (born 1791).
Assuming that they were in business by the time of their marriages,
the building would have been constructed around 1817. (Harback
was married by 1817 when his 1st child was born, Chase was married
in 1819) Col. Jason Waters, a contempory of Chase and Harback, turned
the building into a house. Waters operated the store in West Sutton.
He sold this building to Daniel Tourtellott. It was subsequently
owned by a Mrs. Perry and then by her daughter, Martha P. (Mrs.
George C.) Earle.
