St Fillans Cemetery was erected by members of the Presbyterian congregation in Beckwith. The earliest burial in St Fillans dates from 1836. St Fillans contains more than 1500 burials. According to the Ontario Genealogical Society Ottawa Branch publication (1986),
This cemetery is now on property originally owned by the Cram family. Peter Cram and family came from Cumrie, Perthshire, Scotland in 1820 and settled on farms in Beckwith Township. The family instituted a cemetery on the farm property about 1824. The cemetery was referred to as 'The Cram Cemetery' for some years.
The earliest burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery dates from 1842. Pine Grove contains more than 2300 burials.
The Maplewood Cemetery was established in 1893. Maplewood Cemetery contains more than 300 burials. According to the Ontario Genealogical Society Ottawa Branch publication (1986), St Fillans and Pinegrove cemeteries had already been established on the other side of the concession road. Mr McEwen was asked to open a cemetery on 'his side of the road'. He agreed and the cemetery area was measured and hard maple trees were planted on the outside of the perimeterof the cemetery site. This was done to afford beauty and shade as benefitting the name 'Maplewood'.
