A large slice of old growth tree shows many important dates in American and Park history.
1293 - Tree begins growing

1805 - Lewis and Clark reach the Pacific Northwest via an overland route

1950 - World population 2.5 billion
1963 - This Douglas Fir was cut by the Saint Regis Paper Co in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest
