The China Gate which one stood as the entrance to the China Pavilion at 1986 Exposition in Vancouver, was given to Vancouver Chinatown by the Government of British Columbia. The Chinese Cultural Centre of Vancouver and Vancouver Lions Club jointly formed the China Gate Committee to organize and complete this unique project.
The relocation and refurbishing of the Gate was funded by a grant from the Government of British Columbia and donations from the British Columbia Enterprise Corporation, The Vancouver Chinatown Lions Club and the public. Dated this 15th day of May, 1988.
Presented on the 15th day of May, 1988, by the people and province of British Columbia commemorating EXPO 86, and the year Vancouver "Welcomed the World"
