According to a
January 2013 Neosho Daily News article there was once an unincorporated community named Wanda here; but now all that is there are: the United Methodist Church, this old school, two cemeteries, and a big old white house across from the school and next to one of the cemeteries.
The church used to be where this school is located; but when the school was built in 1893, the church was moved 300 feet away (article says south, but should say north), and the school was built where the church had been. The old timer who lives in the big house opposite of the school mentioned that the old school building is sometimes used as a community center.
