This statue of the famous Danish philosopher is in the garden in front of the Royal Library on the small island of Slotsholmen.

The Statue
The statue stands to one side of the gardens and shows him in a seated position writing one of his many books.
At the time of my visit an old wreath was round his shoulders. I’m guessing that this was placed on the statue on the 5th May, the anniversary of his birth.

The asteroid “(1989 SE2) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on September 26, 1989 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory. The asteroid was named in honour of the prolific Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard.”
Eric Walter Elst “is a Belgian astronomer and a prolific discoverer of asteroids, with over 3,000 discovered so far (just 85 of these having been co-discovered).”
