This courthouse was built in 1898 along with the jail in its basement and served Navajo County until 1976. No one ever escaped from the jail. Several ghosts are reputed to haunt the courthouse.

The historic building has been added to the National Register of Historic Places and now houses the Navajo County Museum and the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center.
