EN: Niklaus Thut Fountain is located in the heart of the old town center of Zofingen at Niklaus Thut Square. The stone water trough is octagonal and has a painted pillar in the middle which the Statue of Niklaus Thut atop. Niklaus Thut is the city-hero of Zofingen, he fell in the Battle of Sempach in 1386.
The fountain was donated to the city in 1893 by the fraternity Zofingia on occasion of their 75th anniversary. The fountain is probably one of the youngest with a standard bearer figure, in the 16th century they were widespread.
DE: Der Niklaus Thut-Brunnen steht im Herzen der Zofinger Altstadt auf dem Niklaus Thut-Platz. Der steinerne Brunnentrog ist achteckig, in der Mitte steht eine bemalte Säule auf der die Statue des Niklaus Thut steht. Niklaus Thut gilt als Stadt-Held von Zofingen, er fiel 1386 in der Schlacht von Sempach.
Der Brunnen wurde der Stadt 1893 von der Studentenverbindung Zofingia zu ihrem 75-Jahr-Jubiläum gestiftet. Der Brunnen dürfte einer der jüngsten Brunnen mit einer Bannerträgerfigur sein, die im 16. Jahrhundert weitverbreitet waren.
