1899: A peace treaty between the United States and Spain is ratified by the United States Senate.
1909: Karl Landsteiner develops a system of blood grouping.
1919: The Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, authorizing Prohibition, is ratified.
1929: The Grand Teton National Park is established by the United States Congress.
1939: Princess Fawzia of Egypt marries Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran.
1949: Grady the Cow, a 1,200-pound cow, gets stuck inside a silo on a farm in Yukon, Oklahoma and garners national media attention in the United States.
