The Smithsonian Inventory (
visit link) describes this 1868 statue thusly:
"Standing Lincoln wearing a cape, which resembles a Roman toga, and holding a scroll in his proper left hand. "
The artist, Henry Kirke Brown (1857-1935) is best known for his equestrian works. In fact, the second equestrian statue in the United States is by Brown and is set at the entrance to this same park. See WMCC9D
