The trail head for the Rough Horsetail Nature Trail is just past the main park entrance, at the bottom of the very steep hill. A small parking lot is on the opposite side of the road, so be careful when you cross to the trail head since cars will be coming from a sharp curve on a steep downhill.
This is a 1/2 mile trail, almost all dirt with several wood foot bridges to help you cross the ravines and concrete steps in some areas. At the beginning of the trail you will encounter a huge amount of Horsetail, which somewhat resembles thin bamboo. Signs telling you about the local trees/plants and wildlife are placed along the trail. If there has been recent rain, be aware that some parts of the trail will be quite muddy and slippery.
This is a really great trail for all members of the family.
