First the painting, by
Tea Preville in 2011. This is from an online gallery of hers concerning the
Kootenays, in south central British Columbia.

Somewhat restored and well preserved, this little church has been the recipient of artefacts from both its own congregation and those of other churches, now closed. The alcove is like a mini-museum.
In the upper front elevation of the church is an unusual "hexagon of circles within a circle" window of multicolored glass, while centralized on the steep roof is a small bell tower.
St. Michael and All Angels', Balfour, opened in 1892. It formed a part of the parish of Nelson until 1909 when it was included in the new parish of Kokanee. In 1968 it became a part of the parish of Kootenay Lake.
