1893: Webb C. Ball introduces railroad chronometers, which become the general railroad timepiece standards in North America.
1903: The first stock car event is held at the Milwaukee Mile.
1913: The Woman Suffrage Parade of 1913 takes place in Washington, D.C. led by Inez Milholland on horseback.
1923: Antigone by Jean Cocteau appears on a Paris stage (settings by Pablo Picasso, music by Arthur Honegger, and costumes by Gabrielle Chanel).
1933: The Lone Ranger debuts on American radio.
1943: Nazi German forces liquidate the Jews of the Kraków Ghetto in Occupied Poland.
1953: Walt Disney's feature film Peter Pan, premieres.
1963: The Central Intelligence Agency's Domestic Operations Division is created in the United States.
1973: The New York Knicks defeat the Los Angeles Lakers, 102–93 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to win the NBA title.

1993: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents raid the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, with a warrant to arrest leader David Koresh on federal firearms violations. Four agents and five Davidians die in the raid and a 51-day standoff begins.
