The Pico da Urze is located in the freguesia (parish) of Lajes do Pico and has an altitude of 899 meters above sea level. From the top, you have excellent views over the pasture land of São João, parish of São João, the whaling town of Lajes do Pico and the slope of the Pico Mountain.
The top of the mountain can be reached by by foot or by car via a paved forest road.
The Geodetic Monument on the Pico da Urze was placed by the Portuguese Cadastral and Cartographic Institute (IPCC) on the island of Pico in 1994.
