Soniquarious (PDF) is a kinetic water sculpture that makes music. The sculpture was created by
Steve Reinmuth. A series of inverted bells, increasing in size, are mounted on an curved arch support. The bells are fed from the top by a stream of water. When a bell fills up, it is able to rotate on it mounting, dumping it's water load into the next lower and slightly larger bell. Eventually the water collects in a circular basin at the bottom. The handle of each bell is a clapper ball that strikes the bell below, making a chime, after dumping its water and swiveling back to it normal position. The bottom bell strikes the circular collection basin at the bottom. The whole musical sequence seems random. It takes a while for the bottom bell to fill with water and strike the collection basin.
