Rock Fossil and Dinosaur Shop is a well known tourist stop for motorist traveling along Route 5 in Deerfield, MA. When the shop is open from spring through fall the large tan fiberglass Velociraptor is on display for all to examine.
The Velociraptor is about 7' long and 4' high. It conforms to the image the public has of the Velociraptor from popular movies such as Jurassic Park but in reality this flesh eating dinosaur was probably no higher than 2 to 3 feet, the size of a large turkey.
Nonetheless, this is a beautifully crafted and maintained statue displayed in a natural-looking rock setting. When the shop is closes it is carefully covered in black plastic wrapping, protecting it from the harsh New England winter.
