While this plant now belongs to a different company, the water tank is still there to be observed and used.

Located on Alabama Highway 25 between Calera and Montevallo, this tank can be seen from the road. One does not need to get on the propery. The tank is silver. Any paint from the original sighting is faded or gone.

The description from the datasheet reads:

01/01/1971 by NGS (FIRST OBSERVED)

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1971 (JLC) THE MONTEVALLO WESTINGHOUSE TANK IS LOCATED ABOUT 2-1/2 MILES EAST OF MONTEVALLO AT THE WESTINGHOUSE PLANT. TO REACH THE TANK FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 25 AND 155 ON THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF MONTEVALLO, GO EAST ON HIGHWAY 25 FOR 2.4 MILES TO THE WESTINGHOUSE PLANT AND THE TANK ON THE LEFT. THE TANK IS SUPPORTED BY 4 TUBULAR STEEL LEGS, HAS AN ELLIPSOIDAL TOP AND BOTTOM, SILVER IN COLOR WITH A GREEN W IN A GREEN CIRCLE. THE HEIGHT IS APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AND THE POINT INTERSECTED WAS THE BALL ON TOP.
