As one goes towards the facility from the southbound side parking area, the plaque can be seen on the back side of a support column by the entrance. It is easier to spot when exiting the facility. This is part of a program approved by the legislature and governor in 2000, in which the Department of Transportation was directed to erect a plaque at all rest areas along interstate highways. source: (

I served on active duty with some former POWs, and they deserve to be remembered and honored.
The text reads:
Florida Honors and Remembers our POW's and MIA's
The light of freedom still burns brightly in our World today because of the service and sacrifice of America's men and women in uniform.
Our Nation's servicemen and women have fought the forces of tyranny and won victories for liberty, human dignity, and the ideals of democracy.
We remember, with profound gratitude, those who suffered captivity and those whose fate remains unknown.
We honour and pay tribute to those valiant families of our servicemen and women who remain missing - families who have had to suffer not only the absence of their loved ones, but also the uncertainty of their fate.
We the citizens of Florida commit that
"You Shall Not Be Forgotten"
