[EN] This millstone has been placed before the townhall of the community of Plaidt. The community of Plaidt consists originally of seven mills. This is the reason for showing a millstone in Plaidt's emblem.
The millstones used in the area around Plaidt are usually made of basalt. Basalt is a volcanic rock which has been mined in Plaidt like in an other towns in this part of the Eifel. Therefore this millstone is a symbol for this place in two ways

Die Gemeinde Plaidt bestand ursprünglich aus sieben Mühlen, daher wurde ein Mühlstein ins Wappen aufgenommen.
Die Mühlsteine, die in der Umgebung von Plaidt zum Einsatz kommen sind in der Regel aus Basalt, einem Vulkangestein, dass in Plaidt, wie auch an anderen Orten in der Eifel abgebaut wurde. Somit symbolisiert dieser Mühlstein gleich auf zwei Arten den Standort.
