This statue, named "St. Peter Holding the Keys to the Kingdom" is an exact replica of the original at the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome.
It stands in front of the Chancery of the Diocese of Austin, at 15th and Congress Ave. near the State Capitol and the University of Texas.
St. Peter is holding the keys to the kingdom of God, and has a Bible under this arm. He seems to be in mid-sermon.
An inset inscription "Audite Verbum Dei" exhorts us to "Hear the Word of God."
