This is one of several sculptures on the greens encircling the Norton Simon Museum. (It is not necessary to purchase an admission to visit this statue.) The lifesized work (one of the four original casts) depicts de Wissant standing and naked. The figure seems to be trying to hide his head in shame by shifting it toward his rising right arm.
The Museum's website (visit link) has an additional photo and the following information:

"Pierre de Wissant, Nude, 1884-95

Auguste Rodin
French, 1840-1917
Bronze, Edition of IV, Cast No. II
77-3/4 x 38-1/2 x 44-3/4 in. (197.5 x 97.8 x 113.7 cm)"

There is another statue of Wissant next to this one...but in that one he is dressed. And there is also a replica of the Burghars of Calais sculpture for which this was a study.

Although Wikipedia doesn't have a page for the individual, it does have a page for a French town named after him (visit link) and that page informs us:

"Jacques and Pierre de Wissant were, with four other, voluntarily hostages in the siege of Calais during the 100-year war, and on 4 August 1347 they went barefooted and dressed only with shirts and ropes around their necks to the English king who had intended to leave them to die as a retaliation for his losses in that siege. Only by Queen Philippa of Hainaut's request the six men were saved. Auguste Rodin used this motive for his famous sculpture The Burghers of Calais (1889)."
