The Story Teller is a design of welded steel trees and ravens by local artist Andrew Raney in 2008. It is most impressive and can be viewed at the entrance of the Rossland Library. During events and festivals the ravens can be seen adorned with the latest scarfs, ribbons or banners.
There is a plaque attached to one of the pillars: Commissioned by the Rossland Council for the Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Rossland Public Library. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Assembly of British Columbia Art Council and the Provence of British Columbia. Through the Assembly of British Columbia 150 Secretariat and the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Art.
"Commissioned by the Rossland Council for Arts and Culture (RCAC) and hosted by the Rossland Library, the works of art titled The Story Tellers consist of five beautifully crafted steel ravens made by Salmo artist Andrew Raney. The ravens, each with their own unique posture and personality, congregate as locals do, on the library lawn to discuss books and the areas latest stories.
Rossland Arts Council vice-president Renate Flemming explains, “I really wanted an art presence downtown. There is a notion that Rossland is mostly a sports town and I thought it was time that we demonstrated that art is vibrant in the community too.”
