"While Rev. Pitt moved to Ottawa to start the work in 1918, Sunnyside Wesleyan Methodist Church was officially formed on Nov. 18, 1921. It is an amazing thing to be in a community for 91 years. We existed 20 years before Carleton University came into being and 30 years before it moved to its present location. Sunnyside came into being when Old Ottawa South was on the outskirts of the city. The church building is now at the geographical centre of the city. Sunnyside has been instrumental in helping out a number of ministries around the city. We gave significant support to Kanata Wesleyan Church (now known as “The Bridge”) when it was being formed. We gave significant support to Highland Park Wesleyan Church in Westborough. We have now become a multisite church helping to bring Jesus to the Sandy Hill neighbourhood."
