The sundial is located smack dab in the middle of a sidewalk that is north of the Blagg-Huey Library, and southeast of the greenhouse. There is a dedication stone in the sidewalk which says:
Dedicated in memory
of
Fred W. Westcourt
Chairman, Department of Rural Arts
With gratitude for and happy memories
Of his love for growing things
By TWU Alumnae Past Presidents Council,
Alumnae, and friends
April 16, 1983
The dial plate features three ducks and an inscription of "Sic vita fugit," which is Latin for "So life flies," just like the flying ducks. A second inscription says "Time takes all but memories." Roman numerals from 5 AM to 7 PM are above the inscriptions, around the top perimeter of the dial, with a typical gnomon.
There is a reference to Mr. Westcourt, his work at TWU, and the sundial at the "Related Web Site" link.
