"DADE PARK (L) 1 m, was built by James Ellis in 1922, on the part of Henderson County that was cut off on the north when the Ohio River changed its course. Races are held here for a period of 28 days, usually in August." -Kentucky: A Guide to the Bluegrass State (1939) p. 315
Ellis Raceway Park, formerly Dade Park, is located north of the Ohio River in Henderson, KY. Its a little known fact that Kentucky exists north of the Ohio, but this is one place it does!
Dade Park was built in 1922 but was renamed after the founder, James Ellis in 1954, just before his death in 1956.
