The Jim Scott Fishhouse was build in 1907. The 25' by 30' single story building has a cedar shingle exterior. It was used by successful commercial fisherman Jim Scott to pack and process fish in season and to store and perform maintenance on fishing equipment during the off season. Jim Scott had been a commercial fisherman and boatbuilder on Lake Superior for more than 50 years when in 1947 he collapsed on the docks near the fishhouse and died. He was not only a very successful commercial fisherman but was known as a community leader. The house continued to serve its original purpose for the Scott family until the 1980s. The building is now still owned by members of the Scott family but is now used for just the storage of fishing and boating equipment. The fish packing is done in a nearby building.
