This location is just to the north of the City Hall CTrain platform, which was part of the initial CTrain system.
At first, the system consisted of 10.9 km of track, nine downtown platforms, and seven stations on the south line (Victoria Park / Stampede Station south to Anderson Station). As of April 2013, the system has 56.2 km of track, four lines (south, northeast, northwest, and west), and 44 stations and platforms.
Ralph Klein was an extremely popular mayor. He was mayor from 1980 to 1989, when he ran for a seat in Alberta's legislative assembly. He served as a cabinet minister and then as Alberta's premier (head of government) from 1989 to 2007. He died on March 29, 2013.
