This plaque honors one of the most famous astronomers of modern times whose discoveries changed the current perceptions of the universe. There is a lunar crater named in his honor and an asteroid.

Probably the name Hubble is most readily recognized for the
Hubble Space Telescope, that has added so profoundly to our view of the universe. He was also honored by the naming of
Hubble Crater on the moon and by
2069 Hubble Asteroid.
Hist name is also attached to Hubble's Law which establishes the observation that the universe is expanding outward and calculates the rate of that expansion, known as Hubble's Constant.

AS OUR OWN MILKY WAY. HE WAS ONE
OF OXFORD UNIVERSITY’S FIRST
RHODES SCHOLARS, THEN COMPLETED
HIS PH D AT THE UNIVERSITY OF
CHICAGO. IN 1917 HUBBLE WAS ON THE
STAFF OF CALIFORNIA’S MOUNT
WILSON OBSERVATORY. IN 1953 HE WAS THE
FIRST ASTRONOMER TO USE MOUNT
PALOMAR’S GIANT 200-INCH TELESCOPE.
HUBBLE HAS BEEN HONORED BY NASA’S
NAMING OF THE ORBITING HUBBLE
SPACE TELESCOPE AND IS CALLED
A PIONEER OF THE DISTANT STARS.
