Though Beaverdell is a very small community and could be considered a ghost town with a mere population of about 250 residents they have placed this marker commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation.
It stands about 8' tall, made of one piece of wood that is hand carved displaying the centennial emblem, dates 1867 - 1967 and the inscription:
From Ocean to Ocean Many Races and Tribes Made Our Nation (Tokios)
There was a local by the name John Tokios, a Hungarian immigrant, who worked in the local mines. In 1968 he planted grapevines and started one of the first vineyards in the area. John Tokios died in 2000. He most likely carved this marker.
