In 1950, the citizens of Glen Elder, KS received a gift of a Statue of Liberty statue from Mrs. Emily Slavin.

The Glen Elder American Legion Post 143 and the Glen Elder American Legion Post 143 Ladies' Auxiliary raised funds for the pedestal.
