The bright neon sign of the Salina KS-based Cozy Inn has been luring customers for their hot and juicy sliders since 1922.
Cozy Inn sliders are P=E=R=F=E=C=T for broke and hungry college kids, which is why this outpost of the famous regional Kansas fave opened in Aggievile a few years ago.
Blasterz can eat burgers with the best of them, and these sliders are FAR superior to White Castle.
The night we were there, we happened to be wearing our TX Longhorn stuff. Being Texans we flash our state school pride! Mama Blaster -- UT 1987, UT Law School 1990. Older Sister Blaster -- UT 2024. Younger Sister Blaster -- UT 2028 Hook 'em Horns!! ]:> (Daddy Blaster went to TX Tech.)
Back to the story: we did not realize (until MUCH later), as we wandered through the heart of Aggieville looking for a place that was NOT crushed where we could get some dinner, was WHY Aggieville was crushed: Texas and K-State were playing in the Big 12 basketball tournament right then. Oops :0
In TX, it's all about football. Basketball is one of those other sports you watch waiting for football. But in Kansas -- basketball is big Big B-I-G!
So all these rabid K-State fans were looking at us as we poked our heads into every restaurant along Moro St, asking what the wait for a table was. When we would walk in, we'd get some funny looks, but we thought maybe it was because we were with our kids.
Nope -- not why!! ha ha ha
We appreciate all the nice college kids at K-State who were not rude at all to us as we wandered around in the heart of their town flying the opposing team's colors in the middle of a high-stakes win-or-go-home basketball game. :) They were very good fans.
