The Taft Cook house is an example of a gable end Greek Revival home. It was built between 1852-1857. There is a dividing wall in the house making it a multi family home. The front door is flanked my sidelights and sits on a granite foundation.

The home is associated with the Taft, Cook, Aldrich and Lowell families. It is right next door to the South Parish Chuch, suggesting it may have been the parsonage to the church, however the Unitarian ministers of the town seem to have lived at 17 Hastings St during the mid 19th century. The first owners were known to be a Mrs H Taft and a S Cook in 1857. which would indicate the home was built as a two family home.
