I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey tidal benchmark from 1920 in excellent condition. It is imbedded on top of a boulder just west of a paved path and near the NW corner of Lithia Park. There is a historical marker below the station. There is the elevation stamping of 'ELEV. 1894.589 FT.', 'N 6' and '1920' on the disk face. This benchmark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 1895'. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this station since the NGS datasheet coordinates are way off. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for recovery. This is a tidal benchmark and I can only assume it was monumented as a tidal mark based off nearby Ashland Creek.

AT ASHLAND, NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO LITHIA PARK, ABOUT 65 YARDS SOUTHWEST OF THE CITY HALL, IN THE TOP OF A 3- BY 3-FOOT GRANITE POINTED BOULDER, AT THE EDGE OF A WALK LEADING INTO THE PARK, ABOUT 65 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF WINBURN WAY, 16.8 FEET WEST OF AND ACROSS THE WALK FROM THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF A GRANITE BENCH COMMEMORATING THE SITE OF OLD ASHLAND MILL, 5 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE WALK, AND ABOUT 2 FEET HIGHER THAN THE WALK.
