Taras Hryhorovic Shevchenko (1814 - 1861) was a Ukrainian poet and artist, one of the leading figures of modern Ukrainian literature, the author, who picked up the Ukrainian literary language to the world level. Sculpture was designed by internationally acclaimed sculptor, member of the Academy of Art of Ukraine Valentina Znoby.
