The 75-foot soldiers' and sailors' monument rests in and is surrounded by a circular fountain which shoots up water about the base of the monument.

The monument is surrounded by a brick and concrete fountain basin. There are several spouts all in a circle about the grand monument. WHen I visited in 2012, the fountain was working perfectly!
