Reference Marks 1 & 2 were destroyed by 1957, and the main station has been excavated & perhaps moved several feet along the edge of a bank surrounding a small block building. The mark is located at the end of Tower RD which runs NE from Whiskey Springs RD along the top of the ridge.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1966 (ELH) THE STATION MARK AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. REFERENCE MARKS NO. 1 AND NO. 2 WERE DESTROYED DUE TO THE BUILDING OF THE A.T. AND T. TOWER AS MENTIONED IN THE 1957 DESCRIPTION NOTE. REFERENCE MARKS NO. 3 AND NO. 4 WERE SET AT THIS TIME. FOLLOWING IS A NEW AND COMPLETE DESCRIPTION.

THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 5 MILES NORTH OF YORK SPRINGS, 4.5 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF DILLSBURG AND ON A TIMBERED HILL KNOWN AS LONG MOUNTAIN. IT IS BELIEVED THE STATION MARK IS ON STATE OWNED LAND, BUT IS VERY NEAR THE PROPERTY OF THE A.T. AND T. CO. THE STATION IS REACHED FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 15 AND STATE HIGHWAY 74, IN THE NORTHWEST EDGE OF DILLSBURG, BY GOING SOUTH ON U.S. HIGHWAY 15 FOR 4.4 MILES TO A CROSSROAD, TURN RIGHT ON THE PAVED ROAD AND GO NORTHWEST FOR 2.0 MILES TO A T-ROAD, TURN LEFT AND GO WEST FOR 0.05 MILE TO A Y-FORK, KEEP THE RIGHT FORK AND GO NORTHWEST FOR 1.55 MILES TO A T-ROAD AND THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT, TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTHEAST FOR 0.5 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD ON THE RIGHT, TURN RIGHT AND GO EAST FOR 1.0 MILE TO THE STATION, ABOUT 30 YARDS EAST OF THE BUILDING.

THE STATION MARK IS 72 FEET EAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF BUILDING, 33 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF FENCE AND 32 FEET EAST OF A POWERLINE POLE. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 8 INCHES AND STAMPED LONG 1942.

REFERENCE MARK NO. 3 IS 102 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A POWERLINE POLE AND 4 FEET NORTH OF AN 8-INCH OAK TREE. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A ROUND CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 5 INCHES AND STAMPED LONG NO 3 1942 1966.
