This abstract sculpture by Richard Harrell Rogers is a wheel within a wheel, so to speak. It is really what the beholder sees. Regers used Cor-Ten steel to form the two discs which perpetually have that runny rusty look to the steel. It's supposed to look that way. That's why Cor-Ten steel was choosen. The work of art provokes primal symbolism. The concentric disks with the offset center hole suggests things like a bird/phoenix, an eyeball, a set of gears, or things Freudian. It is simple, yet complex. This sculpture has a diameter of 10 feet for the outer disc. The inner disc appears about 3 feet in diameter. It is fastened to a square concrete base that surrounds a steel beam through its center to which the disc design is attached. The base stands about 5 feet tall. There are no inscriptions visible on the sculpture, nor on its base. No plaques describing the art are found. The base is not considered part of the art, only something to hold the art in place at this location. This art work is found at the Canavan Center, 8647 Wurzback Rd., San Antonio, TX 78240. It is about a tenth mile east of the intersection of Wurzbach Rd. and Fredericksburg Rd.
