Located 15 miles southeast of St. George, the Warner Valley Petroglyph area offers moderate to easy interpretive hiking trails that take hikers back into history. Stroll through the ruins of Fort Pearce, built in 1866 during the Black Hawk War and maintained by the Bureau of Land Management. The Fort Pearce Trail may be combined with a sandstone wash trail situated just two miles further down the main road. This wash contains a high concentration of preserved dinosaur tracks and several petroglyph sites. Further information on these historic sites and trail maps are obtainable at the St. George BLM office.
