The Roman Catholic St. Peter's church was build 1810 by architect Adrian Tollus and commissioned by Peter Judocus manor of Oosthuyse, as part of a whole new village, 2 km from the then already defunct castle Rijsenburg. The church dates from the Napoleonic era and is the only church in the Netherlands built in Empire style. At the church were living and coach houses built in a semicircle. This unique church square has the status of a protected village.
