Kostel vznikl snad již v dobe po roce 1300 a puvodne pravdepodobne sloužil obyvatelum podhradí. Z této stavby se dochovala cást zdiva lodi a vítezný oblouk. Pri prestavbe hradu Putou Švihovským z Rýznberka byl kostelík roku 1498 prestaven na hradní kapli, pro obyvatele hradu prístupnou mustkem z ochozu hradby. Kostel byl obnoven v roce 1786. Restaurován byl E. Sochorem a vyzdoben malírem J. Hybšem v roce 1907. V letech 1870–1970 byl kostelem farním. Dnes slouží jako výstavní prostor.

During reconstruction of the castle by Puta Švihovský z Rýznberka church was rebuilt in 1498 into the castle chapel The church was restored in 1786. In the years 1870-1970 he was a parish church.
