Wilder Homestead and Birthplace of Rose Wilder Lane - South Dakota Historical Markers on Waymarking.com

This shanty was the birthplace of their daughter Rose Wilder Lane also. The only surviving child of the Wilder's. One and a half miles north of this spot is another quarter section which was Almonzo and Laura's tree claim. Some of these trees still exist today. This shanty at the tree claim was destroyed by fire thus prompting them to move to the shanty on the hill.
