This very difficult to read homemade gravemarker of local stone was made for an Indian who died at an advanced age. This stone sits quietly in the deeply historic Confederate Cemetery near Atoka OK.

A local stone marker for an Indian buried in Atoka's Confederate cemetery is almost as mysterious as the other graves here - most of whom are unmarked.

After lots of photoshop manipulation of our photos, our best guess as to the name and date information on this marker is reproduced below:

Bornd Oct 4th 1792 died IT
3-8-1875 age 83
Date of Birth: Oct 4 1792

Date of Death: Mar 8 1875

Material: Stone
