Fallout Shelter Sign at the Milton Post Office - Milton, MA - Civil Defense Fallout Shelters on Waymarking.com

In the Milton village of East Milton is the Milton Branch of the Post Office, which has a fallout shelter sign on the west wall.

The Milton Branch Post Office is on Adams Street, near the center of the village and at the intersection of Adams and Bryant Street. The sign is on the west side, which faces Hollis Street. The sign is still easily readable. The orange-yellow paint still shows the circle and triangles and the word "Fallout Shelter" at the bottom. In the capacity circle is "10." Near the bottom is the text "In Basement" and then arrows pointing right toward the rear of the post office building.

The rear of the building is where the loading docks are. Obviously, I didn't try to look for the shelter there.

The post office is slightly raised compared to the rest of the area. Thus, being so close to Boston, I'm not sure this fallout shelter would be all that effective. I was informed that the capacity started with 50. This plus the fact that there is a space on the left side large enough for a digit, the capacity was possibly 110, not 10. The building isn't large, so I hope there is enough space for that number. At least they will have reading material!
