The P.S Waimarie, a century paddle steamer, departs from Moutoa Quay for tours of the historically significant Whanganui River.
It has been restored as part of the the Whanganui Riverboat Restoration & Navigation Trust.
According to the P.S Waimarie's website, the P.S Waimarie sunk at her moorings in 1952 after a long career on the Whanganui River. In 1993 she was finally freed from the mud. What followed was several years of hard work, effort, love and dedication to bring the proud P.S Waimarie back into her own. She has been refurbished and slight changes made to her original floor plan to allow for two indoor saloons equipped with a bar.
The original Tube Boiler has been replaced with a replica that is very true to the original. There are two modern lavatories on board and comfortable seating available the P.S Waimarie is truly a relaxing step back in time.
