Playa Kanoa is located on the rugged Northern coast of the island of Curacao. Battered by the constant Northeast Trade Winds, this "beach" is famous among local surfers for its huge waves and punishing swells.

Playa Kanoa is located on the rugged Northern coast of the island of Curacao. Battered by the constant Northeast Trade Winds, this "beach" is famous among local surfers for its huge waves and punishing swells.
Per the "Wannasurf" website, the swell size starts at 1.0m-1.5m (3ft-5ft) and usually holds up to 3m+ (10ft+).
Getting to the area is not exactly pleasant: there is trash on the side of the dirt road and giant potholes everywhere... but once at the small protected cove, it's a little unknown paradise which few outsiders know about. You can park just a few feet from the water, just make sure to bring sturdy shoes along as the rocks are quite sharp.
