This two-mile hike encompasses the now-abandoned portion of the first automobile route through Rocky Mountain National Park between the Continental Divide at the summit of Milner Pass and the Alpine Visitor Center near the high point of Trail Ridge Road. This portion is only open to foot traffic whereas the portion to the east of the Alpine Visitor Center is open to off-road vehicles but only in the uphill direction.
