EN: The Roman Catholic Church of Aesch is located on the southwest edge of the village at the road to Pfeffingen.
The Catholic parish Aesch separated in 1803 from Pfeffingen. After that the little chapel of 1672 no longer met the room requirements. 1816 a church building was resolved. The necessary permits were issued in 1820, shortly after the church was built after plans by Hans Georg Stehlin. Many elements of the old chapel were re-used for the new construction. but then the interior design and the final completion retarded a few years until the church was finally inaugurated in September 1841. The original organ from 1836 is one of the two oldest of the canton of Basel-Land.
1906/07 the interior was rebuilt in Romanesque Revival style. These adjustments were mostly revoked during an expansion in 1938. Another renovation was done in 1972.
DE: Die römisch-katholische Kirche von Aesch steht am südwestlich Dorfrand an der Strasse nach Pfeffingen.
Die katholische Pfarrei Aesch trennte sich 1803 von Pfeffingen. Danach genügte die kleine Kapelle von 1672 den Anforderungen nicht mehr. 1816 wurde ein Kirchenneubau beschlossen. Die nötigen Bewilligungen wurden 1820 erteilt, kurz darauf wurde die Kirche nach Plänen von Hans Georg Stehlin erbaut. Viele Elemente der alten Kapelle wurden für den Neubau wiederverwendet. Der Innenausbau und die endgültige Fertigstellung zogen sich dann aber einige Jahre hin, bis die Kirche im September 1841 endlich eingeweiht werden konnte. Die originale Orgel von 1836 ist eine der zwei ältesten des Kantons Basel-Land.
1906/07 wurde der Innenraum im neuromanischen Stil ausgebaut. Diese Anpassungen wurden aber bei einem Ausbau 1938 wieder rückgängig gemacht. Eine erneute Renovation erfolgte 1972.
