Cruise ship passengers disembarking from the northern dock in St. John's exit directly into the Heritage Quay shopping plaza. Embedded in the pedestrian only plaza, amid all the shops and restaurants, is a huge 30' diameter compass rose. A circular double row of square white pavers is set among the red bricks of the plaza. Sixteen compass points are defined with gray bricks. Minor points are smaller and completely gray. Major directions are larger and filled with square red pavers. Two light posts are located with the compass rose.
